On 18th September 2025, our brother James suddenly passed away at the age of 40. Despite the physical and learning disabilities he faced throughout his life he coped so admirably, and was well known and loved by many. As a family we are incredibly proud of who he was and what he achieved.
Art was a huge part of James’ life. With the support of his art tutor Lucy, James created and gifted countless pieces of artwork to friends and family.
Art was more than just a hobby for James — it was a therapy that helped him remain positive, express his creativity, manage his emotions, and build connections with others.
As James’ brothers (Mark & Steve). we want to extend James' legacy for many years to come by creating the James Tinsley Art Foundation.
Our mission is simple...yet important — to create a hub of information about art therapy and to signpost people to organisations who can help. Through this, we hope James’ special character and unique story will inspire others to improve their wellbeing through art.
One year after James’ passing, we (Steve & Mark) will be cycling from London to Paris in his memory (16-19th September 2026). Throughout our journey, we will promote www.jamestinsleyartfoundation.org through social media.
Funds raised through this gofundme will be used to:
(a) build the jamestinsleyartfoundation.org website
(b) pay for web hosting fees and website development for the next 10 years
(c) help cover some of the costs of the London to Paris bike ride
Any surplus funds raised will be donated to Arts Therapies UK, a mental health charity that helps children and adults improve their wellbeing through creative therapies.
Please help fund our mission, share widely, follow us on social media facebook.com/jamestinsleyartfoundation
Watch out for www.jamestinsleyartfoundation.org — coming soon!
