Help Keep Mark Home — and Help Us Afford the Move to Do It
My name is Joele, and I’m caring for Mark Cutsforth, my 71-year-old best friend with right-side paralysis after two major strokes. A short while ago, he suffered another heart episode that left him fully bedridden.
Mark remains upbeat and witty as ever — but his health challenges have created an overwhelming financial strain. Medicare helps with medical care, but none of the day-to-day expenses that come with keeping him safe, clean, comfortable, and — most importantly — at home.
Mark is absolutely determined never to return to an institution. After his second stroke, he spent a brief time in a group home. It broke his spirit, and his sister quickly intervened to bring him home. He has said many times, with tears in his eyes, “If I ever go back to a place like that, I won’t make it.”
His monthly Social Security check now covers almost everything he has — but not quite enough. The rent has risen by 33% since moving in three years ago — an increase of nearly $350 a month. Despite careful budgeting, we’re falling behind.
We now have a chance to relocate about ten miles away, within the same property management company, to another 55+ gated community. It’s safe, community-oriented, and much closer to needed stores and services — saving us gas and stress. Best of all, the move would immediately lower our rent by $350 each month, helping us stay afloat long-term.
Unfortunately, we need help with the costs to make this move possible. Here’s what’s needed:
• $1,349.25 – one month of back rent
• $1,000.00 – first month’s rent at the new location
• $1,000.00 – security deposit
• $1,600.00 – movers with a truck
Total Goal: $4,949.25
If you’ve ever met Mark, you know how unforgettable he is — funny, stubborn, sharp-witted, and always there with a story or a joke. He’s touched a lot of lives, and now I’m asking on his behalf:
Please help me help him.
Your contribution, no matter how small, directly helps keep Mark in his home — with dignity, safety, and love.
If you can’t donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to us. It helps more than you know.
