Help Mark “Redman” Burnam Beat Cancer
Donation protected
Our family is fundraising for our Dad, Mark Burnam. On May 13th, our father was diagnosed with cancer, which we later found out was stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's diffuse large cell B lymphoma.
He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments which will take approximately six months to complete and potentially more if the cancer persists. We as a family are requesting help with funding for medical expenses and assistance due to limited work.
Our Dad is our hero. He is being cared for by his loving wife, our mother, Lana Burnam and his whole family. Mark is loved by his children, his grandchildren, his wife, his siblings, his mother and so many more. He just wants to continue to provide for his family as he has always done.
Our Dad, Mark “Redman” Burnam is well known in the sport of lacrosse where he has played, coached, and refereed on all levels of the game— a game known by so many Haudenosaunee people as “the medicine game.” Some of our Dad’s accomplishments are below:
- 1980 NYS Lacrosse Championship earning NYS MVP at Henninger High School.
- 1983 NCAA Division 1 National Champion and 1984 were Runners-up at Syracuse University.
- 5-X World team captain with the Iroquois Nationals (known now as the Haudenosaunee Nationals).
- 1987-1998 NLL player with NJ Saints, Buffalo Bandits winning two World Championships in 1992 and 1993, then with Rochester, and finally the Syracuse Smash.
- 2016-19 IMG Academy Coach and head coach of the Iroquois Nationals U19 world team.
- 2010-2022 head and assistant coach of Iroquois National teams.
- 2023- Present, he is a referee for many levels of the game.
We are very proud of our Dad. He has given SO much of his life to the lacrosse community and to Native youth to excel in lacrosse to get an education. He’s touched so many communities and families, all of whom he deeply cares about.
To all those whom our Dad has helped, to all those who care about him, and to all those who know the devastating and lasting affects of cancer on peoples’ lives— please contribute something/ anything to help him.
Our Dad, Mark, has built a life by overcoming challenges and by winning at all levels of the medicine game, and now it’s time for him to win again, and beat cancer… so we can come back to us as he’s always done.
Nia:wen (thank you) for all of your help, from all of us!
Sincerely,
Mark’s loving children— Cheyenne Burnam, Brad Burnam, Tyler Burnam, Hugh Burnam;
