Help Mark Recover From Covid, Dialysis Expenses

My name is Jaye Beatty and my husband, Larry and I are raising money to help Mark and Stacey Skradski. They are dear friends that we have known since their college days when they worked at Jumonville, a Christian Camp and Retreat Center. (For those who knew “Smokey”, AKA Charlie Martin, this is his sister, Stacey's husband, Mark, who served 10 years as a Dean at Jumonville in the Adventure Program.)

Mark contracted Covid in late August 2021 and entered ICU with double pneumonia and severe breathing difficulty. He was intubated and placed on a ventilator for 49 days. Mark battled two collapsed lungs, extremely low blood pressure, a racing heart rate, and kidney failure. In all, he was hospitalized for 7 months. He is currently learning to walk, is on dialysis, and has a wound that has not healed. He has been making progress, but he has a long road ahead with huge costs. Mark has insurance, but deductibles are high, and many services are capped. Medical bills are already building up.

Mark owns a kitchen and bath business. During his illness, his son, Ben, stepped up to run the business. Ben made a great effort and has done a good job. However, the company lost one of its largest customers. Currently, Mark can only work 2 half-days a week as he continues to heal. This will mean a significant gap in their income and expenses. Stacey, Mark’s wife, is also self-employed, and the business she co-owns employs people from 15 families. So, this family has a lot to balance during this stressful and overwhelming time.

Since last August, we have been praying daily for Mark for complete healing of his body, mind, and spirit, all the way down to the cellular level! Please PRAY and HELP Mark and Stacey with the overwhelming cost of his care. Any amount will be a blessing and will be used for his medical expenses. Thank you for praying most of all!


Get to know Mark, Stacey and Ben Skradski:
Mark was born and raised in Natrona Heights, PA, and is an Eagle Scout from Troop 186.
He worked in the Tool and Die business and then started his cabinet business in the early 2000s. Mark has been active at a variety of churches in PA, NJ and NC, and currently attends Elevation Church. Mark loves football and was a Football Dad for his son, Ben. They traveled the Nation together as Ben attended football camps and competed and Mark loved to volunteer there, too.
 
Stacey was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and attended Alderson Broaddus College (University).  She is a NC Licensed Recreational Therapist and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Her primary focus has been in the field mental health, developmental disabilities and substance use over the years. She has used that experience to serve individuals in NC who the courts have determined need a guardian. You may also know her as the sister of “Smokey”, AKA Charlie Martin, from her youth and young adult days. 
 
Ben is a true Southerner. He was born and raised in NC and grew up playing all sports with a ball involved.  He traveled with both football and lacrosse prior to high school and focused on those two sports during high school.  Ben is also an Eagle Scout.  He attended college briefly and then joined his father in the cabinet business.
