Help My Father Keep His Home After a Stroke

Hi, my name is Monica, and I’m raising funds to help my father, Mark, keep the only home he has after suffering a major stroke.

My dad is 70 years old and has lived on his property in Arlington, Washington, for over 10 years. It is his home, his stability, and the place where all of his belongings and memories are. Over the past few years, he has suffered three mini-strokes, and most recently, a fourth stroke that was major, changing his life overnight.

He is currently in a rehabilitation facility, where his care is being covered by long-term care Medicaid. As part of that coverage, $900 of his approximately $1,000 monthly Social Security income is taken to pay for his care, leaving him with about $100 a month to cover all other expenses. Because of this, he has no ability to catch up on past-due costs on his own.

Due to years of financial hardship and now a serious medical crisis, my father has fallen behind on property taxes totaling approximately $11,000. Most urgently, $3,000 must be raised by the end of May, or the property will enter foreclosure. If that happens, he could lose the only home he has ever known.

This property is not an investment or a vacation home; it is everything he has.

The funds raised through this GoFundMe will be used to:

- Pay the immediate $3,000 needed to stop foreclosure
