In 2024, we crossed paths with a father and his son on the worst day of their lives.

My husband and I had stopped by our favorite restaurant, only to find it closed for renovations. Disappointed, we turned to leave — but something in our hearts told us to stay.

Just outside, we saw them: Mark and his son, Jordan.

We almost walked past.
