Help Mark in his fight against Cerebral Palsy

Hi All!

My name is Elena, and I am raising this fund to support the rehabilitation of my dearest friend - Mark. This happy little boy and his mother Viktoria are great fighters which encourage me to address you all and tell their story.

Mark was born in a village in Siberia. At birth, Mark was diagnosed with a pathologic anaemia, meaning that he couldn’t be treated with K-vitamin, but unfortunately this fact was ignored by the doctors and was dismissed from the hospital with jaundice. Normal thing they said, no extra tests are needed… After several days, the parents realized that something was wrong with the boy, he had convulsions. Mark was hospitalized and soon after his parents received the news, which came as a big nightmare – their little child was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (level 5) and completely lost his hearing.

The cerebral palsy of 5th level (Spastic Quadriplegia) is the most severe form of CP and requires complete assistance for most activities; Mark was never expected to raise his head again, never be able to drink or chew by himself, and would have to breath through tubes for the rest of his life, also he would never be able to hear or speak anymore…. Despite this heartbreaking situation, his mother Viktoria decided to fight and make the best she could out of it !

This woman will always represent for me the power of parental love which exceeds the official diagnosis and medical procedures.

The Spastic Quadriplegia can’t be treated but correct and on time rehabilitation can provide the unexpected results : save the child and allow him to get in charge of his own body and become an active member of society.

After 4 years of fight, some massive milestones have been reached already:

At 3 years old, Mark got operated and received an ear implant – now : he can hear again!

Mark rises his head; puts head back to a straight position after it drops back or on his chest

Mark now manages to breath without tube, he can also drink with a straw and can eat chopped food.

All these amazing achievements could have never been reached without ongoing in-house or clinical rehabilitation programs, and of course through the amazing job Mark’s parents - Viktoria and Valeriy - did.

Those rehabilitations are very pricy (apx. 3.200,00 EUR), and this is without taking into consideration the daily costs like petrol for the car to drive to hospitals, special assistance, buggy, gadgets like verticalization machine, etc.

Mark will need several rehabilitation courses over the coming year - the younger the child, the better the results are.

This rehabilitation course now allows Marc to sleep peacefully without pain and convulsions, furthermore it allows him to target the next goals, like:
