Help Mark Heal from a Debilitating TBI
Donation protected
In March 2021, my Husband (Mark) received treatments from a Neurologist for his debilitating vertigo, cervical dystonia, spinal instability, and a future diagnosis of a TBI (undiagnosed at the time). Despite the treatments, his symptoms continued to worsen, forcing him to medically resign from his job; a career he was passionate about and loved doing. Due to the financial loss, we had no choice but to sell our home, the majority of our personal belongings, and move in with a family member.
Mark’s TBI prevents him from enjoying things he used to; reading, writing, listening to/watching TV, using a computer/phone, hiking, spending time with friends and family, cooking meals, driving, etc... without getting violently ill or exacerbating his symptoms. He is bed ridden most days and in excruciating pain from the spasms in his neck, caused by the dystonia.
Everyone who knows Mark, loved being around him. He could brighten the room with his smile and bubbly personality, and would always put others before himself. Mark was a few classes away from getting his Masters Degree and had just been promoted to a new role at work, when his TBI and debilitating symptoms took over his life, consuming him. He lost 130lbs in 6 months, was vomiting blood, and as soon as he tried to stand up or move, he would be brought down with violent vertigo; along with other debilitating symptoms.
Mark has seen many doctors and specialists since 2019. We never gave up, endlessly searching for answers, doctors and treatment options that would help treat/heal my husband's TBI and give him back a quality of life. Mark has recently been seeing a doctor in Oregon, who has given us hope with treatments that will repair his Brain. Doctors say the damage to my husband's brain, most likely from several concussions he received as a youth/young adult and chronic illnesses, are the major cause of his debilitating symptoms. The time for recovery is yet to be determined and he will need to continue the treatments until his brain heals.
We are asking for help paying for his treatments, due to them being 100% out of pocket and very expensive.
Any donation that you can make will be greatly appreciated and will support his recovery needs. Please feel free to share this GoFundMe link with others who know Mark or would like to help. Thank you.
