Mark and Deborah Barnett have been pillars of support in our community for as long as I can remember. They have organized benefits, hosted singings, and even helped my family during my father’s funeral, always giving without expecting anything in return. Their kindness has touched so many lives, and now they are the ones in need of help.
About a year ago, a severe storm swept through Hamilton, Alabama, and a tree crashed down on their home. The damage forced them to leave and live in a hotel for a while, and they’ve also relied on the generosity of friends for a place to stay. During this incredibly challenging time, Deborah was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has bravely traveled back and forth to the City of Hope in Georgia for multiple surgeries, and she’s now on medication to prevent the cancer from returning. Recently, Deborah had to give up her job to focus on her recovery, which has made their financial situation even more difficult.
As repairs on their home have continued, Mark and Deborah have discovered even more damage from water and mold, leading to unexpected expenses. Unfortunately, insurance has not covered everything, leaving them with significant out-of-pocket costs. When I spoke with Deborah recently, she was overwhelmed with emotion, sharing how hard this year has been. Despite everything, she remains hopeful, leaning on the support of friends, family, and the community. I am reaching out to ask for your help in raising funds to complete the repairs on their home and to cover the costs of traveling to Georgia for Deborah’s ongoing surgeries. Your support will mean the world to them and help them focus on healing and rebuilding their lives. Thank you and God bless you all.
