Everyone has that one person in their life that they can always call on. The one person that no matter the time, day, distance or request, is always there in a hurry. For Us, that person is our Dad. Throughout our lives our Dad has not only been consistently supportive of us but of everyone around him. From players he’s coached, to friends we grew up with as well as the ones he welcomed to live in his home, to his co-workers, his reach has been far! He has always pushed through and got things accomplished not matter the obstacle. He is our Family’s rock.
Now, he needs our help.
In March 2018, our Dad, Mark Lindenauer was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. His journey began with severe shoulder and back pain that was repeatedly misdiagnosed as muscle spasms. Eventually, an MRI was ordered and a large tumor wrapped around his spine was found to be the cause of the pain. Upon biopsy, it was found to be Malignant and he was diagnosed. This news was devastating to our family to say the least.
Multiple Myeloma is a Cancer of the plasma cells that results in an accumulation of cancer cells in the bone marrow where they crowd out healthy blood cells.
Due to the size and location of the tumor his medical team advised beginning treatment immediately. He informed his employer of his need for a leave of absence and they were very supportive.
Treatment options were discussed and he began 23 rounds of Radiation followed by receiving Chemo twice a week at the Cancer Center. He will continue with the Chemo until September when he will travel to OSU Cancer Center to receive a stronger and more intense round of Chemo. Due to the intensity of the Chemo he is required to be admitted to the hospital for three weeks. If all goes to plan the final treatment will be a bone marrow transplant followed by a three month recovery period.
With all of that being said, we created this GoFundMe page to help relieve some of the burden financial stress can cause as he will be unable to work for approximately four months. We feel like the only thing he should be focused on is his health. We hesitated to create one of these as our Dad takes pride in the fact that he has always taken care of his girls and now he needs help.
Our Dad has touched so many lives through raising us girls and our friends, the girls he has coached, and his career. If you are willing and able to help this amazing Man we will be forever grateful! Every little bit helps!
