I want to share the courageous journey of my dear friend Mark, an accomplished musician and founding member of the UVA Marching Cavaliers. His life has been a symphony of compassion and resilience.

Mark is passionate about music and dedicated to community service. He has played countless times to raise funds and organize events with his local punk rock band, "The Chuggernauts," to help those struggling with the financial burden of cancer treatment. Mark also volunteers his time as a radio DJ at the local station 92.3 where he hosts a specialty show that spotlights ska, punk, and hardcore genres.

For two decades, Mark has been a cherished part of Aberdeen Barn, a testament to his commitment and the kindness that defines him. Raised by a single mother, Mark's journey reflects the strength that comes from facing life's challenges head-on.

Despite the hurdles of hepatic encephalopathy and being on a waitlist for a liver transplant, Mark remains steadfast in his pursuit of recovery. His determination is palpable, evidenced by the remarkable feat of shedding 200 pounds in just 17 months.

Now, Mark faces a critical juncture in his journey. His health has led him to stop working, and he's on a waitlist for a new liver. The road to recovery is arduous, and he needs our support.
