A peaceful summer evening became tragic when a faulty wheelchair lift sparked a fire that destroyed their long-time family home. Mark Held, a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and a 100% disabled Navy veteran, was already in St. Vincent Hospital recovering from a fall just a week earlier. Shannon Held his loving Wife, a Mother and Grandmother—who has been his devoted full-time caregiver—was home alone when the blaze erupted. Trapped on the second floor, Shannon was heroically rescued by Erie firefighters and rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation. Now Mark needs daily support more than ever, while Shannon fights through a long and painful recovery in the hospital.
