My mom and dad are amazing people. My mom has been a nurse for over 40 years, always the one to help someone in need. As many of you know, her health has been in decline for about 6 years now, and she is now on Social Security/Disability. Over the past years, she has endured many hospital stays and surgeries. This past Christmas, she was in and out of the hospital until March. At that time, my dad had his second hip replaced, and it has been a nightmare since.
He had an infected hematoma that required a second surgery. And then it was discovered his femur was fractured, which led to yet another surgery. He is now in a state funded rehab facility for the next at least 6 weeks. All the while, the short term disability they are counting on from my dad’s employer, has been denied.
This leaves them with only my mom’s SSDI. With rent and their car payment, that money is gone. My dad will be filing for his social security in the coming weeks (his 62nd birthday is May 8th), but it will take awhile for the payments to kick in.
For these amazing and selfless people, it is coming down to a roof over their heads, medicine or food. Mom has many medicines that she needs to have to survive, that she absolutely cannot go without. But there is just not enough money to get everything she needs. And once dad gets out of rehab, he will also have medications he needs.
Any help is greatly appreciated. My parents have always been willing to help anyone in need, and now that the tables have turned, I pray you can help them.
