Meet Mark and Stephanie. They are the daughter and son in law of our dear friends Mike and Debbie Wright. On September 8th, 2025 Mark experienced a serious injury due to a devastating accident. Mark, who is a handyman was on a ladder on the roof of a house when the ladder collapsed from underneath him catching his legs on the way down. Mark was previously diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson’s disease in February 2015 at the age of 37, yet he refused to let the disease take over his life. While he has been limited on career opportunities, he would not accept permanent disability. He strived to achieve a successful career despite his disability and over the years has been building his company from the ground up. To try and improve his symptoms and expand his ability to work, he had deep brain stimulation surgery in December 2022. By doing this, it enabled him to continue in this field even as his disease progressed.
Everything was going well until September 8th. Mark was on the roof of a house when his ladder collapsed, trapping his feet. The injury was catastrophic to say the least. He has multiple fractures in both ankles and completely severed both Achilles tendons. Surgery was performed on September 10th. The surgery was very lengthy as they placed rods and screws in both ankles. Because he had severed both tendons, the doctor also had to stretch and reattach both of them.
Both feet will be in casts up to his knees for at least 6-8 weeks. He will also be confined to a wheelchair during this time because he has to be 100% non-weight bearing. After the casts come off, he will need physical therapy to virtually relearn how to walk again. The doctors have projected he will not be completely healed and 100% back to work for 12-18 months.
Mark is the primary income provider for his wife and four children. Although he does have insurance, the deductible is high and will not cover him going to rehab. Furthermore, being self employed, he has no sick leave or vacation time. We would greatly appreciate any help to cover the hospital expenses, their rent, monthly bills, and food during this challenging time. This is a great family who have just hit a really hard time. Mark is one of the most selfless, caring people you would ever meet. Please help us, help them.
