Update on Chase

This is an update none of us wanted to have to share. After everything Chase has fought through, his family has been given the heartbreaking news that he is not going to make it.

His family will be traveling to Denver this weekend so they can be together, surround Chase with love, and have the opportunity to say their goodbyes. Mariya remains by her son's side and will stay in Denver through the coming days and until Chase is cremated.

Chase always dreamed of becoming a New York police officer because he wanted to save lives. Even though he won't get the chance to fulfill that dream in the way he imagined, Chase is still going to save lives. ❤️

His family has made the incredibly selfless decision to honor his wishes and donate his organs. The organ donation process is expected to take place Monday. In the middle of an unimaginable tragedy, parts of Chase will live on, giving other people a chance at life. His dream of helping and saving others will become part of his legacy.

As our focus now shifts, we are also trying to help Mariya and her family prepare for funeral and cremation expenses, in addition to the travel, lodging, lost wages and other expenses they have already faced.

This morning, Mariya Lantz received the phone call no parent should ever have to receive. Her son was hit by a car and thrown approximately 200 feet. He was unconscious at the scene and was rushed to the hospital with very serious injuries.

He has now made it out of surgery, but their journey is far from over. Due to the severity of his injuries, he needs to be flown to Denver for specialized care. His spine is not attached to his skull, and he has a long and uncertain road ahead of him.

Right now, Mariya’s only focus should be being beside her son—not worrying about how she is going to pay for travel, lodging, food, missed work, medical expenses, and all of the unexpected costs that come with something this devastating.

We are starting this GoFundMe to help take even a small amount of that weight off her shoulders while she stays by her son’s side.
