Hi, my name is Maritza. As many of you know, I have an upcoming hysterectomy(July 6th) that will require me to take 6–8 weeks off from work to recover. While I’m grateful that my job is protected through FMLA, the time away will unfortunately be completely unpaid. As hard as it is for me to ask for help, I’m creating this GoFundMe because I honestly can’t get through this recovery period alone financially.

Since the new year just started, I haven’t been able to build up enough paid leave, and I’m worried about how I’ll cover rent, bills, groceries, pet care, and unexpected medical expenses while I’m unable to work. This surgery is something I need for my health, and I’m trying to go into it focused on healing instead of constantly stressing about how I’m going to make ends meet.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m usually the person trying to figure things out on my own, so asking for support like this is incredibly difficult and humbling. If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it would truly help lift some of the weight off my shoulders during this time. And if you can’t donate, sharing this means just as much to me.
