Help Maritza Heal from Severe Burn Injuries

Hello, my name is Cristal Miramontes and I am creating this GoFundMe for my sister, Maritza Rubalcava, who has suffered 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns all over her body as a result of what we believe to be a faulty kitchen device. My sister has always been determined to put her family forward by any means necessary. She has worked endlessly and tirelessly to give her two boys everything she possibly could, whether that meant working overtime at her job at the funeral home or picking up multiple different side hustles in order to make a living. Unfortunately, that’s what led to this awful incident.

On October 21st, she was practicing making churros as a side hustle when the machine she was using exploded in her face, causing 1st degree burns to her face and eyes, 2nd degree burns to her chest, and 3rd degree burns on her right (dominant) hand, which she will be needing skin graft surgery for. We are asking for any assistance to help my sister cover her medical expenses as well as contributions to any other upcoming expenses in the time that she will not be able to return to work as she tries to regain mobility in her hand. This will be a long, painful, and difficult process for my sister and her two boys.

Maritza has touched many lives through the many working hats she wears. Whether it be as a cosmetologist making people feel beautiful and confident, a photographer capturing people’s happiest moments, a cheering mom on the soccer field, or a mortician helping many families through their own challenging and heartbreaking times. My family and I do not want her to feel burdened by any more financial stress and want her #1 priority to be her recovery.
