HELP MARISA RAISE MONEY FOR HSCT TREATMENT

For those who know me and my family will know asking for help doesn't come easy. However, this is possibly the one time in my life where I need every bit of help I can get.

Please take some time to read my story and any help -big or small-, will be a great help for me to get the treatment I need to put a halt to this invisible disease - Multiple Sclerosis.

In August 2021 I was diagnosed with MS after years of not knowing the reason of the weakness on the left hand side of my body.

On a daily basis I deal with symptoms of pain, fatigue, numbness, weakness, bladder issues, memory loss, balance, horrible sensations like bugs crawling on my skin and the feelings of electric shock down my spine. On top of these I struggle with anxiety and the constant worries for my future with this progressive disease.

Sadly there is no cure for this disease at the moment. Every day I fear when my next relapse will be and what damage it will cause next time round.

I have recently applied for Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) in Mexico.

HSCT is an intense chemotherapy treatment for MS which aims to "reboot" the immune system, which is responsible for damaging the brain and spinal cord in MS.

The goal is to stop the inflammation that contributes to active relapsing MS.

This treatment is the closest thing we've got to a cure for MS.

With the support of family and friends I'm prepared to try HSCT not wondering what tomorrow may bring in form of disability.

Quienes me conocen a mí y a mi familia sabrán que pedir ayuda no es fácil. Sin embargo, este es posiblemente el único momento de mi vida en el que necesito toda la ayuda que pueda recibir

Lea mi historia y cualquier ayuda, grande o pequeña, será de gran ayuda para obtener el tratamiento que necesito para detener esta enfermedad invisible: la esclerosis múltiple.

En agosto de 2021 me diagnosticaron EM después de años de no saber el motivo de la debilidad en el lado izquierdo de mi cuerpo.

Diariamente trato con síntomas de dolor, fatiga, entumecimiento, debilidad, problemas de vejiga, pérdida de memoria, equilibrio, sensaciones horribles como insectos arrastrándose por mi piel y la sensación de descargas eléctricas en mi columna vertebral. Además de esto, lucho con la ansiedad y las preocupaciones constantes por mi futuro con esta enfermedad progresiva.

Lamentablemente, no existe una cura para esta enfermedad en este momento.

Todos los días temo cuándo será mi próxima recaída y qué daño causará la próxima vez.

Recientemente solicité un trasplante de células madre hematopoyéticas (HSCT) en México.

El HSCT es un tratamiento de quimioterapia intenso para la EM que tiene como objetivo "reiniciar" el sistema inmunológico, que es responsable de dañar el cerebro y la médula espinal en la EM.

El objetivo es detener la inflamación que contribuye a la EM recidivante activa.

Este tratamiento es lo más cercano que tenemos a una cura para la EM.

Con el apoyo de mi familia y amigos, estoy preparado para probar el HSCT sin tenerme que preguntar qué puede traer el mañana en forma de discapacidad.

Gracias desde el fondo de mi corazón a cualquiera que se haya tomado el tiempo en leer mi historia.
