Help Marisa Bean: A Pillar of Our Community

My dear friend, Marisa Bean, has dedicated her life to uplifting those around her through her teaching business as a sole proprietor Bean in Nature and now as nonprofit, Be in Nature. For over 14 years, she has shared the profound gift of nature with hundreds of children, helping them build outdoor survival skills, foster a love for the environment, and cultivate a sense of community. Whether guiding children with special needs, encouraging those addicted to screens, engaging socially reluctant kids, or serving students who simply love to be outside all day, Marisa meets them where they are. She not only teaches valuable skills like fire-making and survival techniques but also raises her students to become leaders and teachers for younger generations, empowering them to actively engage in their learning and community, while instilling the importance of environmental stewardship and a respect for nature.

For over 30 years, Marisa has loved her life-changing sobriety community, gaining support and wisdom and giving back as a sponsor and host. Her dedication to helping others find a new way of life shines through in her thoughtful connections with friends and participants.

A Call for Help

Now, Marisa finds herself in a critical moment of need. 18 months ago, she took on the sole responsibility of her household. As Director of a small non-profit in Silicon Valley, she is struggling to keep up with mortgage payments and essential major home repairs on her own. To make matters worse, she suffered a serious injury just two weeks ago, breaking two bones in her wrist, which required costly surgery (of which her insurance partially paid) and means she has the added expense of substitute teachers and helpers to keep her educational programs running.

As one of her renters has recently moved out, the challenge of maintaining her home has intensified. Renovations are desperately needed to rent the rooms for market value to help cover bills.
