Help Marisa and Isaac get a safe home for their new baby

Yes the cover image right now is of the baby from the first trimester, I can assure you they're much bigger and still healthy. I just don't have any better images right now

We're needing to move out of our apartment complex by, or preferably before, the time our lease is up on April 30th.

As many of you know, Isaac and I are expecting our first baby in May and would very much love to bring them home to a safe home that is well-taken care of and hasn't had a lot of negative press.

We currently live in Fontenelle Hills Apartments and some know but most don't, the management company, Elevate Living, have largely neglected the property and have not done much to ensure resident safety both in common areas and in the buildings/units themselves.

We live on the third floor of our building and in order to get in or out of it there are roughly six flights of stairs. Three inside and three outside. The outside stairs have become dangerous and even when we put in work orders and contacted code enforcement Elevate chose to not do anything besides move the busted stairs back into place and hammer the rusty nails back in. I've already fallen twice on the outside stairs which have lead to a back and leg injury and being pregnant in very worried for my safety when needing to leave and return to our apartment.

There are a lot of other reasons that make the apartment not entirely safe such as a destroyed subfloor that they will not fix, our patio door still doesn't have a proper lock on it even after having it replaced, and none of our windows are safety glass except for the now new patio door but as the lock still isn't replaced and the unit is old the door won't shut properly in any case.

I could continue to list the many issues going on but these news articles do a much better job of explaining these issues that are still ongoing and the fact that maintenance will not respond to requests within a timely manner.

The purpose behind this fundraiser is to get some assistance with moving costs and applying for a new place that is safe and well taken care of. We are currently not in a place to buy a house at this time but renting one is an option for us and we are currently looking at homes in the off-base Rising View community in Bellevue. It's a great neighborhood for raising a family and has a much better maintenance team, and is very safe.

We're also looking into possibly legally breaking our lease early through the Fair Housing Act without having to incur an early termination fee due to my pregnancy and injuries incurred because of Elevate's negligence. I still need to contact Legal Aid of Nebraska to discuss that but given the circumstances I want to believe we would qualify for a thing like that. I'm also just realizing if we stayed until our lease is up we'd be in our new place for maybe 2 weeks before baby is due and that might cause a lot of stress for everyone.

Every little bit helps and even if we don't make 100% of our goal we'll still be closer to locking in a new home than we are currently. Hopefully this will at least make it more feasible to move sooner rather than later. We also understand that things are rough for everyone right now so simply boosting this GoFundMe to other places or even just $1 would mean the world to us.
