Hello sharks. My name is Marion Hollingsworth and I am asking for help covering a laparoscopy and hysterectomy in order to treat severe adhesion disease and suspected endometriosis that is gluing my uterus to my pelvic wall. Over the past two years I went from being what the doctor's would call a "healthy young woman" to my body doing things like they've never seen before. After two years of being put in orbs (CT scans), getting countless blood tests, ultrasounds, a laparoscopy where they thought they found the answer (yippee!), realizing they did not find the answer as symptoms came back (Sad!), ER trips, finding out I'm allergic to morphine at said ER trips, developing nonepileptic seizures from being in so much pain, having to quit school and work due to said seizures, being put in a bigger orb (MRI), and finally seeing a specialist, we finally are on the track to getting answers. This is where we found out that my uterus is glued to my left pelvic wall, causing nerve compression, leg weakness, severe pelvic pain, and other funky and fresh symptoms. The specialist would like to do another laparoscopy to remove the adhesions gluing my uterus to my pelvic wall as well as search for other endometriomas that may be where they aren't supposed to be (my body) and excise them out and give me a hysterectomy. This surgery gives me the hope of going back to living a full life again.
With this treatment, I will be able to go back to school, back to going out and doing things I love instead of being bedridden for days at a time. With this surgery, my legs might work like they used to before. But the cost is steep. Just to schedule the surgery, I will need $1,000, and by the time I meet for the pre-operation appointment I will need another $4,500. This is just for the surgeon's office and does not include any additional costs that may come from the hospital, travel, etc. which I estimate to be around $500. Any overflow funds will be used to cover medical expenses or monthly expenses I am unable to cover while being unable to work, and any excess funds after that will be donated to the Center for Endometriosis Care.
