A few years ago, my life changed dramatically when I found myself in the hospital after breaking my left femur and shattering my right one. As someone who has always been independent, losing the ability to walk and care for myself has been incredibly difficult. Since then, I've faced a series of health challenges, including severe respiratory issues from sleep apnea and swelling in my legs. There were times when things got so serious that I slipped into three comas, and waking up with tubes in my throat was terrifying. My brother and sister were there to help me understand what was happening, and their support has meant everything to me.
Recovery has been a long and slow journey. I've lost much of my strength and now need to learn to walk again. The hardest part has been adjusting to this new reality and trying to regain some independence. Unfortunately, my insurance won't cover some of the medical equipment I need to make daily life safer and more manageable. One of the most important items is a Hoyer lift, which would help me transfer safely between my bed, recliner, wheelchair, and shower. This equipment would make a huge difference in my ability to move around my home and continue my recovery.
I'm not asking for millions—just enough to help me get the equipment I need. Thank you to anyone who is able to share my story with your family, friends, or anyone who can help. I'm not begging, but I am asking for your support and blessings as I work toward regaining my independence.
