Our sweet cat Mario just turned two this month, but instead of celebrating, we’re facing a heartbreaking and unexpected crisis. In just a short time, Mario has become ill and is now partially paralyzed—sometimes he limps, and other times he has to drag himself across the floor. We still don’t know why this is happening. Our veterinarian estimates that his care could exceed $3,000, and he may need to see specialists to have a chance at regaining normal function.

One of Mario’s favorite things to do has always been leaping into my arms (usually when I’m already holding something), and not seeing him do that now is absolutely heartbreaking. This past year has already been incredibly difficult for our family, but we are determined to give Mario every possible chance to recover. He is so young and full of love—he deserves the opportunity to heal.
