Help MarineLives write history
Donation protected
MarineLives is a group of volunteers committed to the publication of Early Modern legal records from the English High Court of Admiralty. An immensely rich and underutilised source of social, material and economic history in a remarkably interconnected Early Modern World.
We are raising funds to complete a high quality machine transcription of all volumes of English High Court of Admiralty depositions for the period 1570 to 1685. Roughly 30 million words and 50,000 manucript pages. We have 5 million complete and freely available on the world wide web. You can see them a sample here [http://www.marinelives.org/wiki/HCA_13/71} and the complete currently available transcriptions here [https://github.com/Addaci/HCA/tree/main]
We are seeking to raise £20,000 to complete the remaining 25 million words by end 2025. All funds raised will go to computational costs using the Transkribus transcription platform, using high quality models we have already built and used successfully.
