My name is Dwayne, and I am a proud United States Marine Corps Veteran.

I never imagined I would find myself in a position where I had to ask for help, but I’ve reached a point where I need support to get through this difficult time and begin rebuilding my life.

After my vehicle was totaled, I was left without reliable transportation, and that loss has created a chain reaction that has affected nearly every part of my life. Without a car, finding employment opportunities and getting to my VA medical appointments has become extremely difficult. I’ve been doing everything I can to manage without reliable transportation, but the added challenges of getting to opportunities and securing steady work have caused me to fall behind on rent, utilities, and other basic bills.

I want to work, stay independent, and maintain a stable home. But without dependable transportation, many employment opportunities are out of reach, making it much harder to get back into the workforce and regain stability.

I am also currently going through the VA disability process and attending weekly treatment for ongoing lower back and hip issues. This process takes time, and I’m continuing to attend my appointments while I work toward a more stable future.

I’ve reached out to veteran and community resources to find assistance. I appreciate the resources and support I’ve been able to access, but I still need help bridging the gap while I work toward getting back on my feet.

I have experienced homelessness before, and I’m determined to do everything possible to prevent going through that again.

I’m raising $5,000 to help stabilize my situation while I work toward employment and long-term stability:

● $2,500 for rent and overdue utilities

● $1,500 for transportation needs, including immediate transit, employment opportunities, VA appointments, and working toward reliable transportation, including the possibility of a down payment on a modest used vehicle

● $1,000 for groceries, household necessities, and essential expenses while I work toward rebuilding stability

This support would help me keep a roof over my head, remain in my home, continue attending my medical appointments, and pursue employment while I work toward getting back on my feet.

I’m not looking for a handout. I’m asking for a bridge to help me get through this difficult time and rebuild.

If you’re able to donate, I truly appreciate it. If you’re not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser could make a difference by helping it reach someone who can.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer.

Dwayne
