Help Marilyn Walk Again: Urgent Medical Fund

Donation protected
Hi all, my name is Genevieve from Fitty Foodlicious and I'm raising money for my dog Marilyn who suffered a terrible accident over the weekend. We were asleep when it happened and awoke to screeching and painful cries to run into the other room to find Marilyn locked in the jaws of my normally well-tempered German Shepherd Kona. After my husband extracted Marilyn from Kona's jaws we discovered that her right front leg suffered extensive damage as was broken. She also suffered a deep puncture wound in her right leg and a puncture wound behind her right ear. According to our vet, this is where Kona's main teeth were and she was thrashing Marilyn in her mouth like a rag doll. Marilyn is lucky to be alive. Marilyn needs extensive treatment and the most important treatment moving forward is removing her bandage and splint and replacing them for the puncture wound to heal properly. Because of the damage to her leg, she will most likely need to be sedated for each bandage wound change. We cannot afford this and have used our entire emergency fund to pay for the initial costs of Marilyn's emergency treatment. Marilyn will also need more X-rays moving forward to determine if she needs surgery on the leg where they put a peg and screw in her leg to ensure she will walk again or the worst, which be to amputate her injured leg. None of these are treatments that we can afford. My job has taken a pay cut and so has my husband's job. We are in desperate need of any help. Even if you donate a dollar to Marilyn's treatment it could mean the difference in her being able to walk again. Those who know Marilyn and see her on my IG stories know that she is the sweetest and kindest little dog. Marilyn is a Chihaua and she didn't deserve what happened to her. We are still trying to figure out what triggered Kona to attack her and what caused all of this as Kona was asleep in her bed one minute and the next was thrashing Marilyn around like a rag doll. There was no known trigger. Right now though, we need to focus on raising funds to be able to afford Marilyn's bandage change treatments and her next X-rays to see if she needs surgery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. We have attached all of the documentation from our Vet describing what happened to Marilyn and her proposed treatment plan. Marilyn is currently taking antibiotics to prevent infection and is on multiple pain medications to cope with the pain. She is on Methocarbamal, Gabapentin, and Amoxicillin. These medications are incredibly expensive. Without proper and continued treatment, Marilying will not ever be able to walk again. Our goal is to give her the best quality of life possible moving forward and we need your help. Below are photos after the accident and pictures of her before the accident. The initial cost of the emergency room visit and then treatment moving forward is also attached. We will also be meeting with our vet again this week to see what the next steps are and will continue to update this page.

UPDATE: November 11, 2024: Marilyn needs amputation surgery and needs to have it asap in order to save her quality of life. This is our only option moving forward. The amputation surgery is $3,000 which we don't have so we have raised our donation goal. Just donating $1.00 to Marilyn's cause will greatly help her. I will be uploading her surgery cost estimate as well as the photos of her X-rays. There is nothing they can do to save her leg. Amputation and her becoming a tripawd dog is our only option moving forward.
