My name is Marilyn Marzella, and I’m reaching out because I’m currently stranded in the Houston area after a series of unexpected complications. I was honored to be chosen by curator Lisa Volpe of the Museum of Fine Arts for FOTOFEST, one of only ten photographers selected for the Throughline Gallery. While this was an incredible opportunity, it has come with significant costs, and I had hoped a sale would help cover my expenses by now. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone as planned.

On top of travel and lodging expenses, I’ve faced a string of challenges at home. My washer, dryer, two heaters, and toaster oven all broke down suddenly, and my car was stolen several years ago, used for joyriding, and returned in poor condition. It now needs a new engine, and I can’t trust it for travel. Each trip to Houston has been costly, and moving between motels has added up quickly. I’ve even had to wait for AAA late at night, sometimes in the rain, just to get back safely.

Right now, my top priority is getting home. The costs of transportation, lodging, and trying to manage everything on my own have become overwhelming. I’m also working on completing an archaeology film about the origin of Mayan Civilization, but I need Non-Linear Editing equipment to finish it. I’m also running my small business, FloEsse SuperBlends, but these projects have had to take a back seat while I focus on getting home safely.

There are more issues I’m facing, and I’ll addend to this story later as things develop. If you can help, I would be so grateful.
