Help Mariela Get Back on Her Feet
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Lisa. I’ve been a friend to Mariela the last few years but really have gotten to know her deep love for her boys, Jesus, cooking, and the outdoors this past year since she joined our Young Families group at Grace Marietta church.
I received a text from Mariela on Christmas Eve that was only the beginning of a long journey to come. She was on her way to our candlelight service to participate in scripture reading with her boys when she had to turn around and head back home because she felt so sick. It turns out, after an ER visit, she had the Flu and was sent home to recover. I heard from her the day after Christmas and she had hoped to feel better by morning so they could finally open gifts together (unfortunately, that never happened).
She didn’t respond to me in the days following and I was hoping she was just enjoying Christmas celebrations. Little did I know, she was in the hospital with flu, pneumonia, and sepsis, fighting for her life! We are all so thankful that her sweet Mom remained faithful in the Lord and never felt ready to remove her life support. We can now praise the Lord that her life was preserved and her organs have been healed!
She did suffer major burns across a lot of her body so bad that her legs were unfortunately not able to recover from the sepsis damage resulting in bilateral amputations.
Regardless, God is not done with her on this Earth yet and has big plans for her future! Mariela knows this well, as she is determined and has said she’s going back to work as usual, will not be confined to a wheelchair, and WILL WALK AGAIN! She wants good prosthetics that will help her maintain her independence, help her keep up with her active boys, allow her to cook in the kitchen again, and do all the other things she loves!
Mariela needs your help as prosthetics can be very expensive along with other structural changes that will need to be made to accommodate new living arrangements.
Let’s all come together to help Mariela get back on her feet!
On behalf of Mariela and her family, we thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your love.
