Marie Hamilton was greatly impacted by the flash flooding that Northern Arizona experienced during last week's storms. Marie is the primary caregiver for her disabled father. On Wednesday, water started entering the house and Marie knew she needed to get them both out, as well as their cat and dog, immediately. After 2 911 calls, and still no help, Marie’s neighbor was able to get her and her dad out via a raft. The water continued to rise up to 4 feet in their home and up to 6 feet on other parts of their property. It completely destroyed their home, two cars, and most of their belongings. The local news featured their story - you can see a copy of that here. This is the second flash flood in just a couple of weeks that Marie and her family has experienced. This second one also ruined many of the belongings that they had just repurchased after the first flash flood on July 29th.
Marie and her dad are now starting from scratch in trying to find a place to live, a car, salvage any belongings from the house, and restart their life. Anything you can do to help out would be greatly appreciated as the financial burden that the flooding has left behind is immense.
