My name is Marie, and I am a disabled senior citizen asking for help getting a new wheelchair. After a head-on collision, I became severely disabled and have already endured 23 surgeries. My health has been declining, and my body simply cannot take any more trauma. Right now, my current wheelchair is no longer safe for me. Because of cracks and slanted sidewalks, it has tipped over 12 times. Three of those times, I landed in the street and narrowly missed being hit by cars. It has been terrifying, and I live with the fear that the next fall could cause even more serious injuries.

My insurance company will cover part of the cost, but I still have a $728 co-pay for a new, safer wheelchair. This wheelchair would help me prevent more falls, avoid further trauma to my head and body, and give me a safer way to get around each day.
