My name is Marie Michele Laforest. Unfortunately, death has knocked on my doorstep four times since January 2026. First my grandmother, then Ramon’s older brother, his cousin, and now him. I am heartbroken to even have to resort to doing this.
Unfortunately, Ramon Dario Espinisa Caceres, only 53 years old and the father of my youngest daughter, Mariah, passed away yesterday in the ICU at IMG Hospital in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, at around 2:30 PM.
He had surgery on his stomach to remove toxins. He was also suffering from sepsis in his big left toe, clogged veins, neuropathy, diabetes, high blood pressure, and nonstop nosebleeds with blood clots coming from his nose and mouth.
After the surgery, we thought he was healing fine, although he was still in the ICU. I was asked to give consent for a neurologist to go through his nose to stop the bleeding, which caused me to have to buy 6 bags of B+ blood for transfusions.
During the process of the anesthesia, his heart stopped for 3 minutes. They revived him, but he was never the same after that. He was on a ventilator all Easter weekend.
Mariah and I slept in the hospital in an extra room that the insurance does not cover, just to make sure we were there in case something went wrong. Unfortunately, our nightmare came true when his heart stopped at 3 AM, then again at 6 AM, and the last time at 2:30 PM.
Ramon is currently in the morgue at the hospital until I can pay the very large bill left after insurance, and then pay for funeral arrangements.
Whatever amount anyone can help with would be deeply appreciated. Life is short. May God bless you all with many more years. Until the bill is paid, they are not going to release his body or death certificate in order to start funeral arrangements.
