Help Marie and Jason Get Back on Their Feet After a Yellowstone Accident
They built a life around family, simplicity, and a dream come true. Now, one unexpected accident has turned their world upside down.
Our dear friends Marie and Jason have spent years dreaming of a life surrounded by the beauty and wildlife of Yellowstone National Park. After raising six wonderful children who are now living their own adult lives, they decided it was time for a new chapter. They even told their grandbabies this was “Mimi’s Big Adventure.”
Getting there wasn't easy but they took a leap of faith and moved out west. Then, in February 2025, Jason suffered a widow-maker heart attack, with 98% blockages on both sides. Their lives changed overnight. But they persevered, found work in the park, and eventually sold nearly everything to make their RV their home.
They had finally found their peace. They spent their days working, watching bears, photographing wildlife, and caring for their seasonal park family. Life was simple, beautiful, and exactly where they wanted to be.
Then, on October 1, everything changed again.
After watching a grizzly bear with other visitors and park rangers, they headed back to their RV at dusk. On the dark, unlit road, a massive bison stepped into their lane. There was no safe way to stop. The collision destroyed their truck, their only vehicle capable of hauling their RV.
We are incredibly grateful that they survived. Both are sore and shaken, and their beloved senior dog, Z, was injured and is slowly recovering. But now they face a difficult reality: their truck is totaled, and without a way to move their RV, they risk losing the only home they have.
They had reduced their truck insurance to liability coverage while it sat unused for most of the summer, waiting for their trip out of the park. They never imagined that a short drive would leave them in this position.
Their income covers their living expenses, while Jason’s income goes toward the health insurance and daily medications he needs after his heart attack. With winter approaching and the park preparing to close, they have very little time to figure out their next steps.
How your support will help:
Transport their RV out of YellowstoneHelp them secure reliable transportationCover relocation and temporary housing expenses Help with Z’s recovery and unexpected expenses as they navigate the aftermath of the accident.
They plan to move to Utah for work and maintain the medical coverage that is so important to Jason’s health. For now, they will stay in employee housing while they figure out how to move their home and rebuild their lives.
They are not people who ask for much. They chose a modest life because they valued time together, nature, and peace over a bigger paycheck. They still believe in that life. They just need a little help getting back to it.
If you are able to donate, any amount will help them navigate the immediate challenges ahead. If donating isn't possible, sharing their story would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story, for caring about this wonderful little family, and for helping them find a way forward. They are grateful to be alive, grateful for the life they have built, and hopeful that with a little help, they can find their footing again.
