Subject line: Help Maribel get thru these challenging times

Hello friends and family!

My name is Sandy, and I am fundraising for my cousin Maribel. Anyone that knows her would tell you that she is one of the funniest, sweetest, and most giving souls. She is always making us laugh, and has always been so thoughtful and generous to us despite what she is going through. I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of our help. She has been fighting cancer, and is currently in need of financial support!

In 2009, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. After 5 years of undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy, she was in remission!

In 2018, she collapsed while grocery shopping and was taken to the ER. Doctors discovered that her cancer had returned, and had spread to her hip, knee, and part of her spine. Her right knee and hip had fractured due to the cancer. Doctors performed emergency surgery, placing a rod in her left leg and screws in her hip. she was hospitalized for almost an entire month, and overcame adversity to be able to walk again with help.

We thought her treatments were working, but doctors recently discovered that her cancer had spread to her liver and her neck. She underwent radiation again, and chemo every week.

Her husband is her sole caretaker, driving her to all of her doctors appointments and treatments, and making sure she has adequate nutrition. When the pandemic struck, his food business unfortunately suffered and he was forced to close up shop.

I don’t want my cousin and her husband to stress about their bills during this trying time. All funds donated will be used to pay the rent, put food on the table, and pay for her treatments that insurance unfortunately does not cover. Any amount would truly help to ease their financial hardship so that Maribel can instead focus on getting better. We would love to spend many more years hearing her laughter in our lives! Please help us, help her!

Me llamo Sandy, y estoy tratando de recaudar fondos para mi prima Mabel. Ella tiene cáncer y necesita nuestra ayuda financiera. En 2009, le diagnosticaron cáncer de mama. ¡Después de someterse a quimioterapia y radioterapia, después de 5 años de tratamiento contra el cáncer, estaba en remisión! En 2018, se desmayó mientras compraba comestibles y fue al hospital. Los médicos vieron que tenía cáncer de nuevo en la cadera, rodilla y columna vertebral. Su rodilla derecha y cadera se habían roto por el cáncer. Los médicos realizaron una cirugía de emergencia, colocándole una varilla en la pierna izquierda y tornillos en la cadera. Estuvo en el hospital durante casi un mes. Ella volvió a caminar milagrosamente. Creemos que está mejorando, pero los médicos recientemente vieron cáncer en su hígado y cuello. Ella volvió a tener radiación y quimioterapia todas las semanas. Su esposo es su cuidador. Él la lleva a citas y tratamientos, le ayuda con actividades de la vida diaria, cocina su comida debido a que ella está bastante incapacitada .El perdió su trabajo por Covid . Están pasando unos tiempos muy difíciles.

No quiero que mi prima y su esposo se estresen por las responsabilidades financieras. Todo el dinero donado se utilizará para pagar el alquiler, la comida y pagar su tratamiento que el seguro no cubre.
