Maria, her husband, and their 16-year-old daughter are close friends of mine who are facing an unimaginable loss. Last night, a devastating fire swept through their home in Coram, leaving them with nothing but the clothes they wore to bed. In just a few hours, they lost everything—clothes, furniture, important documents, and even two cars, one in the garage and one parked outside. Thankfully, they all made it out safely, but the emotional and financial toll is overwhelming.

Maria’s family now faces the daunting task of starting over from scratch. They need to replace basic essentials like clothing, toiletries, and household items, as well as find temporary housing and begin the long process of rebuilding their lives. The loss of their cars has made things even more difficult, impacting their ability to get to work and school. As their friend, I want to do everything I can to help them get back on their feet and show them that they are not alone during this difficult time.
