Marianne Livengood - Continue Healing and Recovery
Donation protected
The heart behind this fundraiser is to support Marianne with her recovery by providing financial assistance for her health and personal care needs not covered by insurance.
Marianne started exhibiting symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at age 16 and was diagnosed at 17. She will be 43 this coming February and has continued to live life fully!
After high school, Marianne graduated from UNC Greensboro, while working two jobs. She later married Jeff Livengood, and they have been blessed with two children Jacob (12) and Rachel (8). Their family currently resides in Winston Salem.
As life has gone on, Marianne has endured and overcome many MS-related health challenges, but she is a fighter and continued to press on with courage and faith.
She has been a fundraiser for The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, even organizing a hockey team for people with disabilities. In 2019, Marianne was recognized by the Winston Salem Mayors Council for Persons with Disabilities for her work with adaptive ice hockey. She was named "Citizen of the Year" for helping establish sled hockey and wheelchair hockey. She has tenacity and such a giving Spirit!
Eight years ago, she was confined to a wheelchair. In the past 6 months, she has been hospitalized 5-6 times and recently suffered two seizures in one day. The many health setbacks she has experienced the past 4-5 months have left her unable to transfer from wheelchair to bed, with most of her time currently spent in a hospital bed set up in her home so that she can be with her family as much as possible.
Marianne now requires daily assistance with basic essentials for personal care beyond what her family and friends are able to provide. Daily hired nursing assistants/“sitters” are now required with costs paid out of pocket and not covered by insurance.
All funds received from this fundraiser will be used to directly support Marianne’s recovery and personal care needs.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any way you feel led to help “Our Girl” as she continues to press on with courage and tenacity to rebuild her strength and regain her independence.
