My name is marianne, and over the past year, my life has changed dramatically. I developed a serious progressive lung condition that now requires me to be on oxygen 24/7. Before this, I worked as a massage therapist, but after losing my practice due to COVID, my health began to decline and I am no longer able to work. Turning 75 soon, I find myself facing new challenges every day, especially as I try to maintain my independence without family support.

The oxygen compressors provided to me through Medicare after my last hospital stay in January have not been ideal. The portable unit I rely on for doctor’s appointments and essential errands is heavy, difficult to carry, and only lasts about two hours before the battery runs out. This makes every outing stressful, as I constantly worry about running out of oxygen before I can get home safely.

Recently, I found a portable oxygen machine that is two pounds lighter and comes with an extra battery, allowing it to last up to five hours. Having this machine would make a huge difference in my daily life. It would ease my anxiety about leaving the house, help me get to important appointments, and even allow me to go for walks on days when I feel strong enough—something I truly miss and need for my well-being. It would also be reassuring to have in case of a power outage, giving me peace of mind that I can stay safe at home. Unfortunately, as someone on a very low fixed income, making payments is extremely difficult. I have 30 days to return the machine if I can’t raise the funds, but I am hopeful that with your support, I can keep it and regain some freedom and peace of mind.
