Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Supporters,
We are reaching out with urgency and hope to ask for your support for Mariana Itzayana Márquez Díaz, a beautiful 2-year-old girl from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, who has been bravely fighting Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) since birth.
Mariana’s Story
Mariana is a happy, adventurous, and curious little girl who loves to explore the world around her. Despite her challenges, she is full of joy, laughter, and determination.
Born prematurely, Mariana was diagnosed with ROP, a condition that, without timely intervention, can lead to total blindness. Unfortunately, her condition progressed to a critical stage (Stage 5C), resulting in the loss of vision in her left eye. However, there is still hope—a life-changing surgery could improve her vision in her right eye, allowing her to perceive light, shapes, and movement, which would make an enormous difference in her future.
Her parents, Sugey Díaz and Luis Márquez, are doing everything they can to give Mariana the best chance at a brighter future, but the family does not have the financial resources to cover the cost of this urgent procedure.
The Surgery Deadline: March 26, 2025
Mariana’s family must travel from Ciudad Juárez to Toluca by March 23, as she is scheduled for surgery on March 26. The total cost of the procedure is $90,000 pesos (approx. $4,500 USD), which includes:
- The surgery itself
- Transportation expenses for Mariana and her parents
- Lodging and meals for the family during their stay in Toluca
