Hey Family,
When I first started my journey at NYU, I envisioned for myself (as most do) a successful paying job upon graduation, with a wardrobe not purchased at a thrift shop, and a $5 latte each morning because I could. Low in behold, I met Jesus and those plans subtly, yet suddenly changed.
It was evident, that the call of a Christian is to love others as Christ loved us - not the religious do's and don'ts, have's and have not's I was familiar with.
Since my freshman year, my mission was simple. "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33
The goal was simple, know God and make him known. Seek first not your internship, your money, your relationships or whatever else, but seek God and all the desires of your heart will be added to you.
I can say with full confidence, even having been given the internships, the paid position at the top nonprofits, etc. - all of it pales in comparison to the freedom and joy I feel not only in pursuing God but building his church.
I chose to apply for Hillsong International Leadership College because it was evident that God was calling me to a life in ministry. But I also realized that it is the place he has chosen for me to honor his name (Deuteronomy 12:10).
It's been a journey getting to this place; a journey of tears, doubt, fear, and mustard seed-sized confidence. But I can say with all confidence, that people wander this earth in search of their purpose, identity, calling, and forgiveness that can ultimately only be found in Jesus.
I believe committing my life to encouraging his followers, sharing the Good News with non-Christians, discipling, and building God's Church, has truly been for such a time as this.
