Hi, my name is Mariah, and I’m a single mom doing my best to care for my son and provide him a safe, stable life — but everything changed suddenly due to a horrible situation out of our control.
Our apartment was flooded with Toxic Black Sewage Water due to negligence by apartment maintenance while making repairs to a neighboring unit. As you can see from the photos, the mess and damages were extreme — filthy water filled our bathroom, flooded out, and seeped throughout the home, contaminating and destroying our furniture, clothes, my son’s toys, and our sense of safety.
We were displaced immediately, forced to live in a hotel for over a month now. Not only did we lose nearly everything, but I also became violently ill after being exposed to the bacteria in the water. Despite the severity of the damage, apartment management has refused to take full responsibility or replace what was lost.
To make matters worse, contractors hired by the building made things even more unbearable — sitting on our furniture with dirty uniforms, leaving trash behind on our couches, and placing power tools directly on our kitchen chairs. What little wasn’t ruined by the sewage has now been further damaged by careless handling.
My son just started kindergarten. This should’ve been an exciting milestone — instead, we’re living out of bags in a hotel, without the essentials we once had.
I am seeking legal help, but this all comes with expenses I was not prepared for — medical care, legal fees, food, clothing, school supplies, and replacing basic furniture. Everything adds up, and I’m simply overwhelmed.
I’m asking for help so we can start over — a new, clean home with the basics we need to feel safe again. Anything you can give — even a small donation — will make a difference for me and my little boy. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
