My grandmother, Maria Sosa, needs your help.
With rapidly declining range of mobility, my grandmother is facing tough obstacles within our family's home. The bathroom, her bed, and even the front porch steps are now painfully challenging tasks that have been causing her already fragile spine to fracture slightly more each day.
After her surgeries, it is crucial that the home is ADA compliant so that my grandmother can navigate through the home with more ease to restore and heal, but unfortunately her medical insurance does not cover costly expenses like modifying the bathroom, a proper electric medical bed, and other related costs. The pandemic has affected our family, and the state of our Mama Tanta, as we lovingly call her, is beginning to take a toll on us all. We need your help.
I love my grandmother so much, and I am willing to try anything to get her the proper care she needs. She has done so much for me and my siblings, she co-parented with my mom, and was our family's seamstress. She created all the looks behind my baptism, first communion, and prom dress. She made sure we were fed, and then overfed. Christmas 2020, I convinced my grandmother and others in the family that we needed to get together for one last "tamaleada", because I had a feeling it would be our last.
