Fund to get Maria a replacement trumpet
When Maria first started band in 6th grade, she started out with a cheap, crappy trumpet from a pawn shop. After it became clear that trumpet was going to be a serious part of Maria's life, her parents decided to go ahead and get her a more professional level of trumpet. That Bach trumpet served her through the rest of middle school, through moving to Texas and marching band in high school, and remained her primary instrument through college and the start of her career.
While she's not currently teaching music, being a musician is still a core part of Maria's identity.
Nothing can replace the sentimental value of her original trumpet, but we want to find a used replacement that can be used to start making new memories and allow her to keep playing when she can.
As we've talked about getting a replacement, Maria has expressed the desire to get a used one that has "more of a soul" instead of a brand new instrument.
The goal is to collect _ to go towards purchasing a trumpet, case, and 1-2 mouthpieces as a start in replacing what was taken. If we find a suitable trumpet for a lower price, the extra money will be donated to a school music program of Maria's choice. (Additionally, if we are able to ever recover the original trumpet after a replacement has been purchased, the plan is to work with a local school to find a promising musician who may be unable to afford their own instrument and donate the replacement instrument directly to a student to continue the legacy of believing in young musicians).
