Help Maria Repair Her Fence and Keep Her Best Friend Safe

Maria has called Virginia Beach home her entire life. For the past two years, she has been receiving care from Equilibrio Home Health as she manages significant mobility challenges. Because of her medical conditions and poor balance, Maria relies on a walker or, on occasion, a wheelchair to get around safely.

Maria lives with her granddaughter, who is unable to assist with many of her daily needs. Through it all, one constant source of comfort has been her beloved dog, whose companionship brings joy and purpose to every day.

At Equilibrio Home Health, we've had the privilege of caring for Maria over the past two years. We've come to know her resilience, her kindness, and the deep love she has for her dog. When Stevie, one of our Physical Therapist Assistants, recently visited her home and found her sitting in her wheelchair trying to repair her broken fence herself, we knew we couldn't simply walk away.

The damaged fence leaves Maria in an impossible situation. She is unable to safely walk her dog, so a secure fenced yard is essential. Attempting to repair the fence herself places her at serious risk of falling or being injured, and the unstable fence also poses a danger if it were to collapse further. At the same time, she worries every day about her dog getting out because the yard is no longer secure.

We're raising funds to replace the damaged section of Maria's fence and cover the cost of installation so she can safely enjoy her home again without risking further injury. A secure fence will allow her dog to safely enjoy the yard while giving Maria the peace of mind she deserves.
