Hi, my name is Fabiola and I am helping my friend and mentee Maria Cabrera raise funds for her medical treatment and to go home with her family in Spain.

Maria is a loved friend, educator and a member of our community of Professional Migrant Women, who is going through extremely difficult health problems at the moment. She has been diagnosed this week before Christmas with breast cancer.

For those who don’t know her, Maria is a spontaneous, energetic and strong woman who is well known in her community for always helping those in need. She is a wonderful and kind soul who shares her days surrounded by the children of the Elwood community, where she works as an early childhood educator.

As she is not a permanent resident in Australia, her current insurance will not cover the cost of tests or treatment. Unfortunately, Maria has no family support here, and she will have to start the treatment in Australia until she makes arrangements to head home to her family in Spain in early January, where she will have the love and support that she needs for her recovery.

As you can imagine the increasing bills related to the treatment and the subsequent travel expenses, along with the inability to work are just another worry in an already hard situation.

We are seeking your help to cover these expenses, anything you can donate will really help to bring some peace to Maria in this unfortunate situation.
