On the night of February 21, a devastating fire broke out in Maria's small barn in the DMV. By the time anyone could respond, the worst had happened. What was left were cinder blocks, twisted metal, and smoke that didn't stop rising until the next morning.
The Animals She Lost
Maria had raised two calves, Barnaby and Benny, by hand since they were days old. Every morning before work, she'd walk out in the cold with bottles of warm milk, and they'd rush the gate the second they heard her footsteps. They were gentle, trusting, and incredibly loved.
She also lost her baby goats, who slept in a pile in the corner of the barn and would bleat the moment they saw her coming. They were her daily joy.
Who Maria Is
Maria is a mother with a full-time job who also runs a humanitarian charity helping vulnerable people across the US and Africa. She has spent her entire life stepping in when others face the worst days of their lives.
These animals were her sanctuary, her quiet peace after long days of carrying other people's burdens. Now, she is the one who needs us. Today is her worst day, and it is our turn to step in for her.
The Urgent Need: 3 Goats Survived
Miraculously, three of Maria's goats, Pip, Daisy, and Clover, survived the fire. But they are traumatized, cold, and have nowhere safe to sleep. Our immediate goal is to get these survivors secure, and our ultimate goal is to rebuild the barn so Maria's small homestead can recover and thrive once again.

How You Can Help
Donors like you are the only way we can bring this farm back to life. Here is exactly what your donation can do today:
$25 buys a bale of hay to keep Pip, Daisy, and Clover fed.
$50 buys a week’s worth of thick, dry straw bedding to give Pip, Daisy, and Clover a soft, warm place to sleep.
$100 buys a foot of fencing for their new, safe enclosure.
Even a small donation helps us buy lumber and bring life back to this homestead. If you can't give today, sharing this link with just one person could change everything. Let's help Maria restore her sanctuary.
