Help Maria Fight for Her Health & Home

Maria Sokolova (Mia Femi) is facing one of the hardest battles of her life. She has been diagnosed with a 9-inch uterine tumor, severe anemia, and a fractured ankle — all while under threat of eviction from her home.

Her doctors at Garden OB/GYN and Northwell Health have confirmed that urgent surgery is required. The tumor has caused debilitating pain, heavy bleeding, and dangerously low hemoglobin levels (7), leaving Maria weak, faint, and in need of repeated blood transfusions and iron infusions. At the same time, her ankle fracture requires orthopedic surgery with screws and plates, making her temporarily unable to walk or work.

Because of these overlapping medical crises, Maria has fallen behind on rent. She has received eviction notices despite presenting medical proof to the court. Without help, she faces the devastating possibility of being homeless while bedridden after surgery.

What the Funds Will Cover:

Housing stability — back rent, first/last month’s rent, moving costs if eviction proceeds

Medical expenses — uncovered surgery and treatment costs (orthopedic + gynecologic oncology)

Medication & therapy — pain relief, iron infusions, physical therapy for her ankle

Transportation & food — basic necessities during recovery while unable to work.

In Maria's own words "Hello friends I'm in need of your help regarding an urgent life altering matter. I require two very serious surgeries which are both not covered by my insurance . My doctors have discovered a 9 inch tumor in my uterus that causes major pain , extreme bleeding & blocking my fallopian tubes. This has turned me severely anemic at a hemoglobin level 7. I am in constant need of blood transfusions or iron infusions because my organs arent recieving enough oxygen due to the tumor. I have passed out on several occasions & just been trying to stay alive & present & get through the days till i find the right surgeon for such a delicate surgery . It's a very scary feeling not knowing what will happen each month because of delayed surgery scheduling & delayed transfer of documents from one clinic to another & physically not being able to make appointments on certain days including housing court dates from exaustion. I also have 2 fairly large ovarian cysts on each ovary which require an urgent biopsy & for ovarian cancer as most of you know the only way to perform a biopsy is when you are mid surgery & during a possible removal of my baby making organs. It is very painful & I have been suffering immensely daily. I have also recently broken my ankle & will require 13 screws to be drilled into my leg as well as a large metal plate insertion . The operating surgeons name is Mark Drakos. I will be bed ridden for 4 months & it will take me near a year to start walking again which is a very long process from a wheel chair to crutches & then weight baring & finally physical therapy. The most difficult part aside from the pain is battling depression, stress & adjusting to this change moving around on one foot especially when it comes to bathing, cooking etc. A broken ankle hurts more than anything I've ever experienced in my entire life. While all this is is happening I have been unable to sing & perform so I have fallen behind on bills & I am now facing eviction on September 30th. U.S. Marshalls will literally come throw me outside with my belongings and it had been court ordered by the judge. I have already received my eviction notice on my door & need help moving my things as well & finding a new apartment. Im running out of time please help as soon as possible however you can. I will need to pay for both surgeries which are very expensive, first and last months rent for a new apartment & a few months to get settled in while I recover , where i can feel safe and heal after the surgeries. Moving costs & regular human necessities & bills. I've honestly never been so worried & overwhelmed in my life. I've had to go to housing court crying in pain in my wheel chair because the judge wouldn't do a virtual hearing & had to travel to multiple offices and court every month for almost a year. Sometimes we take our health for granted & I'd give anything to be healthy again and go back to work.
