Help Maria Laura's Medical Expenses

Maria Laura Mannheim is part of our Veritas Prime Family, a beloved colleague, and a dear friend. She has been recently diagnosed with a rare disease called chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension or CTEPH, which is caused by blood clots that don’t dissolve in the lungs and then clog blood vessels in the lungs. The disease, if not treated, can lead to poor quality of life and eventual heart failure.

 

Maria Laura has hope. She needs an open-heart procedure called Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy, which is not performed in Peru where she lives. She found a hospital in San Diego, CA called, University of California, San Diego Medical Center, and is recognized for treating the disease. The cost for the procedure is $100,000 and her Peruvian health insurance will not cover procedures performed outside of Peru.
