Help Maria Heal: Brain Surgery and Recovery

My name is Jenny Romero, and this is my mom, Maria. She had decided to return to her hometown along with my dad, Jose, to finally take a rest and enjoy their life here in Ecuador in the countryside. Everything was going well; she was spending quality time with her daughter, who she hadn’t seen in a long time, and her grandkids, until one afternoon she suffered a horrendous headache and was rushed to the emergency room.

We were told then that she was having a brain hemorrhage and her chances of survival were low due to the amount of blood that was in her head. Doctors rushed into action, resulting in catheter placements and a brain surgery to clip the aneurysms to help her. A complication arose, resulting in hydrocephalus, which is a condition where there is a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain, and a valve was placed in order to help her. Doctors do see a lot of improvement and also say there is a long road to recovery.

Unfortunately, my mom doesn’t have insurance, and it is hard to be able to get all the money for my mom’s treatment. We are asking for prayers and any donations for my mom’s treatment, as the whole family is also trying hard to be able to get the money that is needed. Mi nombre es Jenny Romero, y ella es mi mami, María. Ella había decidido regresar a su pueblo natal junto con mi papá, José, para finalmente tomarse un descanso y disfrutar de su vida aquí en Ecuador en el campo. Todo iba bien; estaba pasando tiempo de calidad con su hija, a la que hacía mucho que no veía, y con sus nietos, hasta que una tarde sufrió un dolor de cabeza espantoso y la llevaron a urgencias.

Entonces nos dijeron que sufría una hemorragia cerebral y que sus posibilidades de sobrevivir eran escasas debido a la cantidad de sangre que tenía en la cabeza. Los médicos se apresuraron a intervenir, colocaron catéteres y la operaron del aneurisma para ayudarla. Surgió una complicación, la hidrocefalia, que es una afección en la que hay una acumulación de líquido cefalorraquídeo (LCR) en el cerebro, y se le colocó una válvula para ayudarla. Los médicos observan una gran mejoría y también dicen que el camino hacia la recuperación es largo.

Por desgracia, mi mami no tiene seguro y es difícil conseguir todo el dinero para el tratamiento de ella. Pedimos oraciones y donaciones para el tratamiento de mi mami, ya que toda la familia está intentando conseguir el dinero necesario.
