Maria, my mother, has always been a force of nature—someone who gives everything she has to help others, no matter her own circumstances.
I've seen her do the impossible, fighting for medical aid, raising money to transport children for life-saving care, feeding the hungry, housing those in need, and supporting her employees through tough times. She’s taken in minors, helped them get GEDs, worked with countless charities, volunteered at hospitals, literally given away her own clothes, and more. She always finds a way to give, no matter how little she has.
This time, she needs her community's help.
After her diner business closed following a difficult split with her partner, Maria found herself unable to retire and struggling to find work. Despite her experience and determination, her age and accent made it challenging to secure a job, even after applying to countless places. Refusing to give up, she bought an old food truck from a friend, hoping to start fresh and stay afloat.
Unfortunately, the truck quickly became a source of stress and financial strain, needing expensive repairs immediately. Our family has helped as much as we can. My mom has poured her heart into making the business a success. Her food has earned glowing reviews, and she’s built a small loyal following, but the truck’s condition has started to drive customers away.
Recently, Maria even fell through the floor, forcing her to spend money she didn’t have on urgent repairs. Now, with her brother battling cancer, she’s taking time away from work to care for him, making it even harder to keep up with her rent and lot fees. Through it all, Maria’s spirit hasn’t wavered.
A new food truck would mean safety and stability for Maria. It would help her attract new customers, boost her sales, and get her back on her feet so she can remain independent and continue making a difference in her community. If you’re able to help, please know how much it means to us.
My mom is a powerhouse who has moved mountains for others and lives with so little herself. If I could do more for her, I would, and I am deeply grateful for any support you can give.
