Hi, my name is Maria, and I’m from Tallahassee, Florida. I’m raising funds to pursue a dream I’ve carried for as long as I can remember: becoming a pilot.
Aviation has always inspired me — the discipline, the responsibility, the skill, and the sense of purpose that comes with flying. I’ve been accepted into a flight training program that will give me the education and certifications I need to build a professional career in this field. Before I can begin, I need to raise a $10,000 down payment to secure my place in the program.
While my determination is what drives me forward, I also recognize that entering this industry holds a deeper meaning. Women — especially Black women — make up a very small percentage of pilots in the United States. I don’t mention this as a disadvantage, but as a reminder of how important representation can be. I want to work hard, earn my wings, and play a part in showing others that aviation has room for people from many different backgrounds.
As we move into the Christmas season, a time of gratitude and generosity, I’m reminded that none of us reach our goals alone. Every pilot learns with the help, guidance, and encouragement of others. Today, I’m humbly asking for your support—whether through donations, sharing my story, or offering a kind word.
Your contribution will directly help me take the first major step toward this career. It’s not just funding my training; it’s helping someone who is dedicated, disciplined, and fully committed to putting in the work. I’m ready to give my all to this path — I just need the chance to begin.
If you feel moved to give during this season of giving, please know that your support truly means the world to me. I will carry your belief in me through every hour of training, every exam, and every milestone ahead.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for believing in dreams — mine, and those of anyone who hopes to break into a field that once seemed out of reach.
With gratitude,
Maria
