For years, Maria has cleaned our homes with a rare kind of joy and dedication. She has been the heart of her family and community as a mother, grandmother, dedicated house cleaner, friend, caretaker and helper. Today, she is facing a crisis that no one should face alone.

A few years ago, Maria’s husband was diagnosed with severe kidney disease. Despite his illness, he continued working in landscaping to support their modest but happy life, while Maria balanced her job and caring for him. Today, that balance has been shattered. Her husband is now in the hospital, dying, and Maria has devoted herself to his 24/7 care. This means she can no longer work, and as a result, she has fallen behind on rent and is facing imminent eviction. On top of this, Maria cannot afford the insurance premiums for her husband’s care, and her own health issues prevent her from driving, leaving her isolated during her most vulnerable moment.
